The Old Man & The Sea

While the book is often perceived as a quiet tragedy, this motion sequence reimagines The Old Man and the Sea as an epic, raw, and highly stylized clash. The visual narrative explicitly highlights the central elements of the struggle: the Old Man, his ultimate enemy (the giant Marlin), and the fishing tools he uses, which are presented with intense violence as brutal weapons.

This raw experience is driven by a gritty blues soundtrack that perfectly matches the brutal energy on screen.

Every detail in this project relies entirely on a handcrafted, multi-layered composition inside After Effects. Instead of using ready-made AI videos, I independently generated individual static assets using generative AI and digital tools, carefully separating them into precise, distinct layers. Every element — from the complex water splashes on the Marlin to the movement of the birds, which were edited from green-screen footage — was meticulously arranged. This approach allowed for absolute control over the parallax depth, transforming static compositions into a living, breathing cinematic sequence.
